The nose was primarily sweet and attractive, with honey and spun sugar, canned peaches, lemon puffs and a pâtisserie counter, plus a wink of straw and a nod of rolled oats. The palate was fruit-laden, giving us apple, pineapple, stone fruits and lemon drops, shortbread, vanilla fudge and gelato fior di latte, ahead of a cinnamon, pickled ginger and black pepper kick in the tail. On the reduced nose, citrus was elevated and joined by sugared almonds and flower meadows. The palate was now a very satisfying combination of fruity confectional sweetness, chocolate granola and subtle nods and winks of ginger and oak.
